What We’ve Been Up To
Rice SHPE’s successful trip to SHPE nationals where members took advantage of the many opportunities available there (Nissan Design Challenge, Academic Olympiad, Career Fair, etc.) and brought home the small chapter of the year award for the second year in a row.
Southwest Schools come to campus to see Rice’s beauty firsthand and learn about life in college.
Our Mission: SHPE changes lives by empowering the Hispanic community to realize its fullest potential and to impact the world through STEM awareness, access, support and development.
Our Vision: SHPE’s vision is a world where Hispanics are highly valued and influential as the leading innovators, scientists, mathematicians and engineers.
Our Chapter is committed to making you, our members, as prepared as possible for life after graduation. How do we do this?
- Professional Development activities like resume building and mock interviews;
- Community Outreach through programs for local schools such as Project Pumpkin and Race for an Engineering Career Day;
- Leadership Development by putting you in charge of these events
All of this combines to make you look amazing at the SHPE National Events such as the National Conference, the Regional Leadership Development Conference, and much more.
